A now, and voluntary organisation, to be known ~as ,the Empira Development Association, has been formed for the purpose o&, inflnoncing public opinion and public policy on the question of developing, the resources of -tlie, .Empire. The promotefa state that, despite v tho multiplicity of organisations at present in existence, no' yoluntary or other organisation frpe from' political or class bias exists'<dijfectly'far the purpose of furthering development of the 1 Empire, spreading sound knowledge of the Empire among the rank and file of the people in Britain and overseas,, and for promoting productive schemes likely to provide economic employment for all ;workers within the Empire. They ,*tdd ttint they intend to point out "the very real danger to the'.peace and .unity of the Empiro, which exists-so long as the development of its vast resources continues to be neglected, and l to" bring home to. the peoples and)' communities' of the British Commonwealth the vital I necessity for .working together in order to take full advantage of their great I heritage." It will; also ''study thq requirements and resources which fexist for development," in particular "the larger aspects of migration and settia- '■ ment within the United Kingdom: and' the overseas Empire','- and the organ-'' isation necessary .'to such development. Sir John Pratt presided at. the meeting of the provisional Board of Man- j agement, at .which tho .formation .was I announced, and the list of vice-presi-dents includes the Bishop of Winchester, Bishop Bury,, Sir Henry B. Fairfax- ■ Lttcy,' Sir Murdoch-. MaeDonald, M.P., Sir Mas; Pemberton', Mr W. A. Bulke-ley-Evans, Major j; S.' Courtauld, M.P., Major J. J. JLlewellin, M.P., and Mr G. Dallas, M.P."
