Only a small | gathering Of friends Was present as ' it > }iad ' been announced that the departure would be private. There was a touching scene as the coffin left St. Hospital the Reverend Mother and Sisterd of the institution forming a guard of honour from tile porch to the hearse, and through their divided ranks th© bearers carried their beloved burden. The chief mourners were Dome Melba's son, daughter-in : law, and members of the Mitchell family.
