SECONDARY EDUCATION.
UNIFICATION OF CONTROL. (raiss association tblegbam.) NELSON, December 10. • As arranged by the Hon. H. Atmore, Mr A, Bell, Assistant Director of Education, and Mr W. la Trobe, Superintendent of Technical Education, are in Nelson for the purpose of conferring with representatives of the | Nelson College and the Nelson Techni-| cal School Boards in regard to the | P™P oS ed unification of control. The following telegram was received from Mr Atmore: "You know my aim is to have complete unification of control, towards which phase the conference should mark an important step, and if this can be brought about, Nelson would be. the first centre to come into line with the recommendation contained in the report. Technical education in Nelson must be placed on a sound footing, and 1 believe that we can help the college more adequateit to meet the demands of the times tt>r a more comprehensive course." Last May was the wettest experienced in the South of England for U years.
