VICTORIAN LAND SETTLERS. (VSITEO PRP.SB ASSOCIATION—B* ELECTRIC TELBOBAPH--COPTBIOHT.) LONDON. December 9. In the House of Commons Mr J. H. Thomas (Dominion Secretary) was further questioned regarding the Victorian land settlers, Major R. G. Gly° (Conservative) asking whether Great Britain was not going to do something to maintain tho starving people who went out in the settlement soheme which the British Goverment had approved. Mr Thomas said 828 settlers, mostly accompanied by their families, went out. Of these 343 took up land, while 240 were still on holdings. Great Britain haid paid £43.510 towards the cost of the scheme, but the responsibility for the settlers rested with the Victorian Government, which was holding an enquiry. NO WAR DEBT NEGOTIATIONS. (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, December 9. In the House of Commons, asked whether any negotiations were proceeding between the Government and the United States of America on the readjustment of war debts, the Chancellor of the Excheouer (Mr Philip Snowden) replied in the negative.
