PERMITS REFUSED.
AMUSEMENTS AND SPORTS ON CHRISTMAS DAY. The By-laws Committee of the City Council has declined to issue permits for picture theatres to open on Christmas Day, and also has confirmed its previous decision not to issue a permit for a sports meeting to be held on English Park cm the same day. * The application received from the picture proprietors was referred by the Council on Monday evening to the Bylaws Committee, with power to act.
