REV. FRANK RULE.
* PRESBYTERY ACKNOWLEDGES SERVICES. Tho services of the Rev. Frank Rule, who recently retired from the position of superintendent of the Presbyterian Social Service Association, were recognised in a motion of appreciation at yesterday's meeting of the Christchurcli Presbytery. The resolution set out that the Presbytery wished to put on record its sincere appreciation of the labours of Mr Rule, who for twenty-one years had occupied the position of superintendent. Describing Mr Rule's career, the resolution set forth that he was ordained to the ministry by the Christchurch Presbytery on March 16th, 1910. Thereafter he began the work which had become such a signal success. The area allotted to the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association covered the whole of the South Island, north of the Waitaki. This large area created a field of operations that demanded an ever-increasing measure of responsible effort. From the very beginning of Mr Rule's work it was evident that lie had special qualifications for the discharge of the duties he had carried to such a successful issue. In the Presbytery, the resolution continued, Mr Rule had been constant in his attendance and interest; and now that he was retiring from his arduous duties, the Presbytery prayed that the evening time of life would bring to him the pleasure of knowing that, in God's good providence, he had been the instrument of helping the needy and unfortunate, and of guiding the destinies of many young lives that had been placed under his care. It was hoped that the years of retirement would bring to Mr and Mrs Rule many pleasant memories of a great and good work.
