PATRIOTIC FUND.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund was held yesterday, those present being Messrs' Jf. Holland,, M.P. (in the chair), G. A. Hayden, E. F. "Willcox, J. S. Priest, W. A. Carpenter, F. W. Hobbs, and R. T. Tosswill (secretary). A letter wa3 received from the National War Funds Council forwarding a cheque for £IOO. The cheque, it was stated, had been handed over to the lleturned Soldiers' Association on the came terms a« previously. A further letter from the National War Funds Council intimated that another cheque for £IOO would be available next week. The Christchurch lleturned Soldiers' Association applied for £25, being a subsidy of 2s 6d per child, in connexion with the annual Christmas tree function for the children of deceased soldiers and of soldiers who are in hospital on account of war disabilities. It waa decided to make the grant as requested. Xjpon the recommendation of the Committee of Management, it was decided to call tenders for the painting of the buildings, fence, and Papanui road gates of the Rannerdale Home, and for the papering of two of the ward*. The financial statement showed that during October and November, receipts had totalled £1294 12s 4d, and payments £1409 15s 3d. The secretary's report stated that during the months of October and November, cases dealt with had totalled 297 and 305 respectively.
