PICNICS. Yesterday 'a picnics to Lyttelton were Hawarden School (200), to Corsair Bay, and the Culver den School (150), to Diamond Harbour. . Harbour Board Picnic. The annual picnic of the lyttelton Harbour Board employees is to be held at Stewart's Gully on January 14th. Oddfellows' Lodge. A summoned meeting of the Loyal City of Norwich Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., was held on when N.G. Bro. A. A. Kayes presided. Sick pay amounting to £l6 18s 4d was passed for payment. One new member was. initiated into the Lodge. An invitation to an open social evening for the purpose o£ extending a welcome home to P.D.G.M. Bro. France was received from the Loyal Phillipstown Lodge, and accepted. The officers and members of the Loyal Kaia Toa Lodge were admitted and welcomed by the Noble Grand. N.G. Sister Thompson, in returning thanks for the welcome, extended the season's greetings. The installation of officers was carried out by P.G.'s Bros. F. E. Sutton and 11. W. Ryder, when the following officers were duly installed:—l.P.N.G., Bro..'A. A. Kayes; N.G., Bro. J. B. Gilder; E.S., Bro. W. C. G. Taylor; warden, Bro. M. J. Scott; inside guard, Bro. J. Bradley; outside guard, Bro.. T. E. Dovcy; R.S.N.G., Bro. G. C. Taylor; L.S.N.G., Bro. J. E. Wyatt. The Noble. Grand requested P.G. Bro. Ryder to present the Four Merit Jewels to P.P.G.M.'s Bros. W, T. Foster, W. J. Toomey, W. C. G. Taylor, and C. Kay. Bro. Ryder, in a very appropriate speech, made the presentation on behalf of the Lodge, and during his remarks mentioned the fact that Bro. Foster had been continuously in office as secretary for 32 years, Bro. Toomey as treasurer for over 25 years, Bro. Taylor as elective secretary for over 25 years, and Bro. Kay for 22 years as trustee. The members thanked the Lodge for the honour conferred and all spoke of the pleasure tho service had given to them. P.G. Bro. F. E. Sutton presented the retiring 1.P.N.G., Bro. R. Strachan, with a framed Past Officer's Certificate. It was decided that the Lodge procure a new set of regalia. Bowling.
