CHRISTMAS APPEAL OF ROTARY CLUB.
ACTIVITIES TO ASSIST THE POOR. The members of the Christchurch Rotary Club are at present busily engaged upon the preliminary arrangements fo; tho annual Christmas appeal or. behalf of tlie poor of the City. This year the call upon the charity of tf;e public will be much heavier than in previous years, as the number of families to be provided for on Christmas Day shows a very big increase. The first of Kotary Club's activities is fixed for Sunday evening, when Dr. C. Edgar Ford, E.R.C.0.. will <rive an organ recital in the Civic Theatre. A street collection will Jj e raken on Friday, 19th inst., and on Sunday, 'Jlst mst , a band concert will l„. given in the Hosp.tal grounds in n i ( ] of the fund. On the afternoon of Tuesday, -3rd inst., members of the club wil 1 assist the Christchurch Savage Club in the entertainment of about I-o of tho children of the poor, a Alreadv several donations have been received by tho club in aid of tho appeal.
