MINIATURE GOLF.
CLUB OPENED AT SUMNER. On Saturday afternoon Mr A. W. Jamie* son, on behalf of the promoters of the Sum* ner Miniature Golf Club, officiated at tho opening. He said that the company -was out to give the public tho best possible in miniature golf. He asked the Mayor (Mr \V. H. Nicholson) to declare the course open. Mr Nicholson said he would first thank the promoters for adding another attraction to the most attractive seaside resort south of the Line. It had brought the borough right up-to-date. He congratulated both promoters and contractors on making the course available over the holidays, and he hoped their expectations would be fully realised. During the afternoon play was free for all. An inspection of the course revealed many interesting and novel features. Amongst the greens are Shag Rock, Band Rotunda, Scarborough, Clifton Lagoon, Taylor's Mistake, Sumner Pier (high and dry), and Cave Rock. By means of rock from the hills and ingenious wooden devices and a difficult Brooklyn track and Waimak. Gorge, the bogey total was made to reach forty, and « great variety of interest was created. During the afternoon a collection was taken up in aid of the funds of the Sumner Life-Saving Club.
