I'eiunissioji to place a taxi notice oil a tramway pole at the Christchureh railway station was applied for by the lown Clerk (Mr J. S Neville) in a natter received by the Christchureh Tramway Board at yesterday's meeting. Mr 15. H. Andrews (chairman) said there had been some confusion at the point. The Board decided to grant the application. Under the Unemployment Board's scheme for subsidising work provided by farmers end private persons, Mr W. K. keadley said at the meeting of the J 1 J nance Committee of the Citizens' Unemployment Committee yesterdav that some people might be chary about employing a man unless he had paid us unemployment levy, as otherwise they would be liable to a fine not exceeding £2O. The unemployment levy j not overdue till December 31st, and between the present time and tn.it date it was not necessary for the worker to produce bis receipt for the levy—the production of his certificate of registration would be sufficient
