LABOURER SENT TO GAOL. (PJiESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WAIPUK.UKAU, December 8. An incident of a sensational nature occurred at Waipukurau on Saturday afternoon, when Delpha Charles Taylor, aged 25, a labourer, of Brooklyn, \\ ellington, stepped off the mail train and asked to be driven to Wallingford, seventeen miles away, saying: "There's murder to be done. I want to be taken there quick. A bloke pinched my girl. I'm going to murder them both." The taxi-driver refused to take him. The man next hailed two local citizens outside the post office and repeated his demand, the while brandishing a revolver. Eventually he commenced the journey in a service car, hut it Was intercepted by the police, who arrested Taylor. An examination revealed that the rovolver was loaded with silver paper only. Charged in Court this morning, Taylor pleaded guilty to carrying firearms and with presenting a firearm at a citizen, making drunkenness his excuse. He was sentenced to twentyeight days' on the first cliarge and fined £o on the second. Accused maintained that he had 110 intention of shooting anyone.
