CANTERBURY PILGRIMS.
ANNUAL MEETING. A LARGE ATTENDANCE. There was a largo attendance at the seventh annual meeting of the Canterbury Pilgrims' Association, which was held last night in tho Association's room at the City Council Chambers. Mr E. K. Webb was voted to the chair. The annual report set out tbat the Association continued to receive the support of early settlers and the public generally. Death Roll of Pilgrims. Tho Association suffered a supreme loss in the death of its president, Mr J. A. Flesher, who started the Association, framed tho rules, and carried out the general management, and through whoso good offices the Association obtained tho use of a room in the City Council Chambers in which to hold its meetings and house its records. There had been also regrettable loss by death of sixteen other members—the roll of early pilgrims was gradually diminishing. Those who had died are:—Mesdames JI. L. Bowker, sen., Alex. Boyle, C. T. Dudley, A. Dudley Dobson, Chas. Heaton, Elizabeth McLeod (Randolph), Messrs T. D.>Blackmoro (Castle Eden), Peter Chiek, "Francis Dean, W. Eldred, G. T. Ellis, A. It. Fleming, Dean Harper, Messrs W. Hunter, J. C. Prudhoe, and G. Scott. Membership Position. On account of change of residence and from other causes twenty members had resigned. Two life-members and twenty-five new members had been enrolled. The membership consisted of 515 ordinary members, 31 life-members, 26 honorary members; total 572. Details were given of last year's celebration of Anniversary Day and also of the various activities of the Association during tho year. Thanks were recorded for a number of gifts received for the Pilgrims' room, and tho report set out that complimentary expressions were frequently made by interested visitors to the rooms, and the thanks of the Association were duo to tho Toivn Clerk (Mr J. is. Neville) for often personally conducting visitors to the room. Tho members of the Ladies' Auxiliary werc thanked for providing and dispensing refreshments at the quarterly gatherings. The balance-sheet disclosed a balance to credit of £o; the Association has £298 on deposit. The chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, and said that the sum on deposit had. been accumulated in case the Association had to provide a room for itself. Mr C. Hastings Bridge seconded the motion. Mr A. D. Hassall said that the Association was to be congratulated upon the consistent interest shown in its affairs. The motion was agreed to. On the chairman's motion, members standing, it was resolved to express sympathy -with the relatives of Mr Elijah Smart, one of the original Pilgrims, whose death occurred since the annual report was drawn up. Officers Elected. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr John Anderson; president, Mr E. R. "Webb; vice-presidents, Rev. F. G. Brittan, Messrs T. D. Barker, M. J. Gresson, T. A. Phillips, Norman Macfarlane, George Jameson, C. Hastings Bridge, George Harper, .T. J. Thomson, Chas. Wood, O. H. Merlon, and Mrs John Deans; committee, Me?srs H. L. Bowker, A. H. Holmes, W. O. Leversedge, A. Kelwyii Bruce, A. D. llassall, C. R. N. Mackie, F. G. TTobbs. Joseph "Wallace. K. 11. Marriner, 10. M. T/<)vellSmith, John Anderson, jun., Donald Dobson, 11. E. Marsh, Rev. C. A.
