BOTANIC GARDENS KIOSK.
TENDER FOR LEASE ACCEPTED. The tender of Mr E. Buchanan, o! Sumner, at £214 10s per year, was accepted for a three year's lease of the Tea Kiosk in the Botanic Gardens by yesterday's meeting of the Christchurch Domains Board. There were present: —Mr George Harper (chairman), Mrs Annie Fraer, the Hon. D. Buddo, Messrs F. George, \V. H. Winsor, H. Kitson, M. -KLyons, A. H. Shrubshall, W. T. Foster, and R. B. Owen. Permission was granted the -Normal School to hold its annual sports on the Archery Lawn on Friday next, December 12th. Accounts amounting to £237 14s 4d were passed fpr payment. The Christchurch Folk Dance Club was also given permission to dance on the lawn by tho Tea Kiosk on Tuesday, December 9th, at 7.30 p.m. Reporting on behalf of the committee set up to consider holding a garden fete, Mr George said that after careful consideration of all the circumstances, it had been unanimously resolved that, in view of the various efforts at present being made to assist the unemployed, _ and because of the general depression, it was considered inopportune to promote a fete during the summer months. The Hon. D. Buddo remarked that the committee had not said there would be no fete, but thought that it might be held later in the year, perharm in the early autumn. The report was adopted.
