WELLINGTON TRIAL. TOWN V. COUNTRY. (PBBSS ASSOCIATION TELBGEAU.) WELLINGTON, December 5. Honours rested with the Country eleven in the annual cricket trial of strength against Town to-day. After a woak opening, which saw three wickets fall for 25 runs, Cameron and Lowrv brightened the position for the Country team. The New Zealand captain hit up 55 in 45 minutes, and showed a glimpse of his best form. Gallichan 48, Norris 45, O'Brien 35 not out, Cameron 25 and A. Newman 21 all batted brightly' and tho innings realised 263. ' J. Newman bowled well for Town capturing four wickets for 57 runs off 32 overs. Blundell secured two for 84 off 29 overs, and Crook two for 64 off 20 overs. Warnes took one for 29 and Dompster one for six. Tho Town eleven have lost four wickets for 23 runs, A. Newman taking two wickets for two runs, and Reaney two for eight. Reaney's wickets were a result of two smart catches in tho slips by_A. Newman. Dempster was caught in tho slips off lioaney after scoring 11. The match will be concluded to-mor-row.
