STANDARD INSURANCE COMPANY.

MR T. M. CHARTERS APPOINTED BRANCH MANAGER. Mr T. M. Charters, whose appointment as manager of the Canterbury and Westland branch of the Standard Insurance Company is announced, has had many years' experience of insurance work. The son of the late Mr W. W. Charters, he started his career in the insurance world on leaving the Christchurch Boys' High School in 1901, by entering the Christchurch office of the South British . Insurance Company, where he remained for nine years. He joined Kinsey and Co., and was placed in charge of the Canton Marine Insurance agency. After two years' war service in France and Belgium, Mr Charters, oa his return to Christchurch, was appointed District Repatriation Officer, a position ho occupied for three years. He wa3 appointed branch manager for the South Island of the Union and A.P.A. Union Assurance Company eight years ago, a position he holds at present. He will take up his new duties on Febru2nd next year. Mr Charters was chairman of the Canterbury Underwriters' Association for two years, and at present is a member of the Christchurch Fire Board, and has been a member for the past two years. Mr Charters is Well known as a vocalist on the concert stage, and amongst his other activities he has been a member of the Christchurcli Savage Club for the past 31 years, and a past president of it; for several years he has been a mem«r Canterbury Progress League, of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League, and a member and secretary of the Elmwood School Committee.
