ENQUIRY INTO FIRE.

DECISION RESERVED. (PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAM.) BLENHEIM, December 5. On the night of September 29th an old disused mill at Spring Creek, known as Redwood's flour mill, was destroyed by fire, with the machinery contained therein. The building was insured for S7OO and the machinery for £IOOO in the Northern Office. Police enquiries revealed that notice had been served on the owner, Mrs Ada Redwood, notifying that the policies expired on October Ist, and it was not the intention of tho company to renew them, as, in the opinion of its expert, the building and machinery had no insurable value. On Sep- ' tember 29th fire destroyed the mill and the contents. The Coroner, Mr E. J". Hill, concluded an enquiry this evening. The evidence revealed that nothing inflammable was stored in the portion of the mill where the fire started. The only door giving entry was locked, and the key was kept in the residence close by. Mrs Redwood returned home about 10.30 on the night of the fire. When she passed the mill there was no sign of fire. Fifteen minutes after an employee discovered the outbreak. The Coroner reserved his decision.
