STANDBY PLANT.
QUESTION OF SITE. The site for a Government electrical stand-by plant on the reclaimed land at Lyttelton was mentioned at. yesterday's meeting of ' the Lyttelton Harhuur Board. The chairman (Mr H. T. Armstrong, M.P.) suggested that negotiations with the Government for its purchase of the site from the Board should be referred to the Standing Committee with power to act. The secretary (Sir C. H. Clibborn) said that the Government had power to take the land, and if there was any dispute about the price it could be decided upon by arbitration. The chairman's suggestion was adopted.
