On November 12th one of the IT bolts supporting the starboard after hopper door parted, necessitating the services of the diver to effect repairs. Tbo special excavation rendered necessary on the west side by the alteration in alignment, of this jott.v during the recent reconstruction had been completed, and tliero was now available at the berth a depth of 38 feet at low water. The two jetties ere now practically finished, except for painting, etc. The "old jetty as reconstructed had a length of 100 feet and a width of 28 feet and was equipped with four sets of landing steps. The new jetty was 178 feet long by 28 feet wide, with six sets of landing steps.

A further shipment of timber and piles for the, reconstruction of No. 1 iieadwork was received during the month. The construction stuff was engaged in preparing piles, anil a commencement had been made with the removal of 1 some of the under-bracing of the breast work. Miscellaneous. It was decided to make improvements to the tally clerks' shelter at a cost not exceeding £.300. In connexion with the staff picnic it was decided to grant £25 and the use of the tug, and to the waterside and railway workers' picnic funds £2 #s. An "application from the Sumner Civic Federation for a grant towards the beach patrol was deferred until next meeting. A letter was received from the Marine Department enclosing a copy of an Order-in-Council prohibiting seine or parse net fishing in the harbour.
