THEFT OF CHEQUE.
(PKE33 ASSOCIATION TELEGEAM.) WELLINGTON, December 3. Francis Halligan, aged thirty-three, pleaded guilty to the theft of a cheque for £4 13s 4d ; the property of Margaret McKeown, and was sentenced to six months' hard labour, in addition to three months at present being served for vagrancy. It was stated that he had a criminal record.
