RESIDENCE DAMAGED.

A fire, which occurred at about noon yesterday, did considerable damage to a five-roomed bungalow at 89 tit. Albans street, tit. Albans, owned and occupied by Mrs V. G. Martin. The fire started in a kitchenette at the back of the house, and was caused through fat boiling over on to a gas range and igniting. Although structural damage was confined, after the arrival of the Central Fire Brigade, to the kitchenette, heat and smoke •also damaged other parts of the house and contents. There was no one m the house when the fire started, xne building was insured for £425, and the contents for £3OO in the State Office.
