CARNERA WINS BOUT WITH UZCUDUN. RECORD ATTENDANCE PRESENT • (UVITJID PRESS ASSOCIATION—BI EI/ECTEI2 TELEGRAPH —COI'YBIOHT.) LONDON, November 30. Primo Camera gained a points decision over Paolino Uzcudun after a 10-rounds bout i at Barcelona. It is officially announced that the attend' anco at the fight was 91,000, a European record. Though each delivered heavy blows, in order to break his opponent's defence, the contest soon degenerated into a hugging match, until the referee interfered. Nevertheless the crowd oppluudtd every round, admiring Paolino's pluck against a bigger, younger, and more skilful adversary. In the first round Paolino, with three heavy blows, sent Carnera sprawling, but in the following rounds Carnera easily outboxed his crudely lunging opponent. The Jtaiian'a footwork was masterly, and Paolino, who de- ; veloped wrestling tactics in the latter part of the fight, .appeared badly mauled, although the punishment he absorbed indicated that he was made of iron. Carnera weighed 2701b,- and Paolino 207. •Those present represented 60 per cent, of Barcelona's available population. Mounted Guardsmen discouraged the gate crashers, and armed footguards prevented a stampede when the crowd attempted to rush the ring after the verdict had been given for Carnera. Portion of the barriers were broken down, and the guards wielded drawn swords. All Italy is jubilant over Primo Camera's victory, and proclaims him a future world's champion. It is believed that the receipts will exceed £40,000, of which the contestants will divide £IO,OOO. Boxing was practically unknown in Spain a few years ago, and it is remarkable that it should be the first country in Europe to provide such a huge crowd. OTAGO V. CANTERBURY. For the biggest contest that a Canterbury boxing team has engaged in as a team for some years, the Canterbury team for tonight's bouts in the Civic Theatre is as previously published, save that Moulin replaces Baird in the light-weight. B&ird has been very unfortunate this year, and again has to drop out. Canterbury is fortunate in* having such a consistent performer as Moulin to replace him. The Ot&go team arrived by the first express yesterday. It was accompanied by the manager, Mr S. Brown, and trainer, Mr J. Moir. The team brought with them the Wairopgoa Shield, a handsome trophy. It was last fought for in 1920, up to which time it had been won twice by Otago and „once by Canterbury. It is proposed to make the contest an annual one in future. The bouts for to-night are as follows — Fly-weight—M. Anderson (Otago) v. 11. Cullimore (Canterbury). Bantam—-J. Richmond (Otago) v. W. Davey (Canterbury). Feather —(1) \V. Q. Leckie (Otago) P. Hawes (Canterbury). Feather —(2) C. Buckley (Otago) v. R. Overend (Canterbury). Light—D. Campbell (Otago) v. N. Moulin (Canterbury). Welter—G. Hart (Otago) v. G. Forward (Canterbury). Middle—H.
