Bishop p est-w atson also spoko, wishing the tete success, and expressing his pleasure at being back amongst them once more. The stalls were arranged round the lawn. Tea was served' out of doors, and side-shows and competitions provided entertainment for th© visitors. Father Christmas and a Christmas tre© proved very popular with the children, and a mannequin parade, staged by Messrs Hays, Ltd., Christchurch, was an additional attraction. Th© following wero in. charge of the various stalls: —Work stall, Girls' Friendly Society; afternoon tea., Mrs L. Oram; cake stall. Mrs H. W. Childs; ire cream and sweets, Mesdames J. A. Mealings and J. Burnip; Christmas tree and bran tub, Mrs li. J. Parnham; side-shows, Messrs H. 11. Belcher, H. Edwards, J. Ellmers, and F. Hammer.
BELFAST. Th© annual meeting of th© Belfast Branch of the W.C.T.U. was held in th© Presbyterian Sunday School, th© attendance being very good. It was reported that th© North Canterbury executive had bought 10,600 blotters, with a temperance fact printed on each, to be distributed among Christchurch school children, but as the Belfast School Committee would not allow them to b« given out at school, members at the meeting each took some to give away. Th© Dominion president's report of her tour of Otago and Southland was read, and special interest was shown in it. The outgoing officers were thanked for their work and help and th© following were elected for the enBuing year:—President, Mrs McLean; vice-president, Mrs Mot©; secretary, Mrs W. T. Rogers; treasurer, Mrs Tait; Whit© Ribbon agent, Mrs A. E. Clark©; "Y" superintendent, Mrs Roxburgh.
