RAKAIA athletic and CYCLING CLUB. ATTRACTIVE SPORTS MEETING. Tho annual Bports meeting: o£ the Hakiia Athletic and Cycling Club was held in the Domain on Saturday in fin© weather. The attendance was larger than that of last year. The running and cycling events caused a great deal of interest, and some good finishes were witnessed. The finish in the Sheffield Handicap wag s particularly close one. The cycling events were well contested, and the finish of the Wheel Race was very close. The schools' relay race was the most interesting event on the programme, and the winners (Southbridge School team) were heartily applauded. The cup presented by Mr J. Connolly and tho medals presented by Mr G. S. Hardy were presented to the winners by the president (Ml* W. Shellock). Mr J. Connolly also presented u guinea to Dorothy Brown, the youngest girl competing, and a guinea to tho Te Piriia team, which came from the school whli the smallest attendance (11 scholars). All the events were got off to time, and crreftt credit is due to Mr W. She!-lc-ck (president), Mr C.
