CANTERBURY PILGRIMS.
TO THE EDITOB OT TBI PBESS Sir,—On a recent visit to Dunedin I was very pleasantly reminded how the Early Settlers' Association in Otago have perpetuated the memory of that fine body of pioneers that came to Otago in the early days and founded the province. The memorial hall that has been erected conta.ns many photographs and paintings of those intimately associated with the early colonisation, as well as many other things of great interest. As a descendant of some of the earliest arrivals I felt a deep debt of gratitude at the way the Otago people have remembered those splendid men and women It would be a nice compliment to pay to the early pilgrims in Canterbury who are now living, if some steps were taken in Christchurch to erect a hall to their memory, and to place photographs and other matters of interest for future generations to honour. Surely some of those descendants who are proud of their relationship with the er.rly band of pilgrims are prepared to do something in the way the Otago people have done to perpetuate their memory.—Yours, etc., F. November 29th, 1930.
