' Permission 1 was granted, oil' the recommendafc'ien'of the Cycling tee, the provision being added -that the Canterbury-Centre would prefer- that Grose;.-.should-: compete : in Canterbury "districts for .the Christmas meetings. ..-.Messrs P.urse, Cross, Beattie, and Leadbetter were; -appointed to attend a meeting, at New Brighton on Wednesday next, when .the formation' of an amateur cycling . club in the district would be considered. The programme for tlie Kirwee Club's Meeting was approved,-, and it. was decided to sujjgest that the date* proposed for the .meetings Jannary 10th, should be changed until later >n the month. Mr Lockwood mentioned that several improvements could be carried out in the control of "Tuesday evening meetings at Lancaster Park. The track should be .cleared -of." spectatp.rs, and ■should be used only by xunners and officials. Attendances at the meetings were becoming greater, he '. said,. and it should ber ensured, that the public had a gdoij view of the events. . , I*,, >as decided that the matter should be referred to- the clubs in charge of the meetings, and also that the decision-of the-Centre two seasons ago that no entries should- be accepted after the- specified - closing time should be .adhered to.
