ACCIDENTS.
COLLISION WITH POST. Injuries to his head and ribs wero received by an elderly man, Robert Richards, of Sockburn, when the motortruck in which he was travelling, struck a telegraph-post at the corner of Riccarton road and Harakeke street, shortly before noon yesterday. The truck was driven by William Keith Bennett "Woods, of Springsfon, who was slightly hurt by flying glass. The truck was proceeding along the Riccarton road towards the City at the time of the accident, and apparently swerved to avoid a butcher's van, driven by Ernest Percy, which was coming out of Harakeke street. The left side of the truck came in contact with the telegraph pole standing at tho corner, and Richards, who was sitting at that side, received the brunt of tho impact. He was taken to the Christchurch Hospital, where it was found that ho was suffering from injuries to his head and ribs. His condition last night, however, was not serious. The cab of the truck was badly damaged, but two or three calves, which were in the back of the vehicle, were not hurt. FELL OFF BICYCLE. P. Callan, a married, man, of 92 Antigua street, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital at 5.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, suffering from concussion. _ It was stated that he roceivod tho injury when fell off his bicycle at the corner of Ruskin find Antigua streets Ha was taken to the hospital _by the St. John Ambulance Association's _freo ambulance. His condition last night was not serious.
