TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
EXPLOITATION UHGED BY VISITOR. ''Why dou't you exploit the tourist attractions of your country?" asked Mr John Beynon, . manager of Barclay's Bank, Pretoria, who says that during a iii6nth' in New Zealand he has found more Bcenic beauty and variety than anywhere else in the world. "i r ou will at least have strong advocates in Mrs Beynon and myself," lie added. "I. am convinced that just as Switzerland's seenery_ has made her one of the wealthiest countries in Europe, so your scenery could make you one of the" wealthiest in the world." Mr-Beynon has been astounded by the variety of scenery in the .Dominion, ranging from the thermal activities of .Kotorua to the rich, native bush, in South Westland. He has recently spent some days at the Glacier Hostel, Waiho Gorge, and has returned to Christcliurch full of enthusiasm for the glacier region. After the arid South African veldt, the green plains of Canterbury seemed to him very beautiful as he saw them from the train window. "Visit New Zealand And Grow Fat." "We've enjoyed the scenery and found the people most hospitable," he said. "My only complaint is about the food. It's too good. I've put on .about a stone in a week. When you do come fully to advertise your country, v o u might use the slogan: • "Visit New Zealand and grow fat." But I suppose that would not appeal to the women. After eating your food, 1 think it's a marvel any of you maiiuge to keep your figures."-
