LAUNCH DISABLED.

FISHERMAN'S UNLUCKY TRIP. [TBS PRESS Special Service.} AUCKLAND, November 25. D. Wliitelaw had a perilous experience when his launch, AK 2125, broke down off Tiritiri Island. He made a landing by beaching the little craft at Wliangaparaoa. Blinded by spray and without food or water, he had a hard fight to save the launch from foundering in that constantly swept >t from stem to stern. \\ hitelaw, who is 23 years of age, left Auckland last Saturday, and on Sunday, in spite of rough weather, fished off Tiritiri. Two anchors carried away. The launch, besides shipping a lot of water, began to leak, and the dinghy in tow behind was swamped. YVhitelow managed to get the launch across to Tindell's Bay on the mainland, and received assistance. This morning the launch and dinghy were refloated, and Whitelaw made a start for Auckland. When off Manly Point the propeller was fouled by - a line and the engine was stopped, ine wind was off the land, so Whitelaw made an improvised sail, and tried t beat townrds Auckland. He 111 progress at the start, but later tn launch commenced to drift to sea. 1 was at that stage that W Pine and his mate in the fishing launch A' 2119 went to the rescue, and the disabled launch waß towed to Manly.
