SANDERS CUP TRIALS. The lir.st trial race to select a boat and crew to represent Canterbury in Ihe banders Cup contest at Dunedin early next year will be held at Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon. It is possible that five boats will take part, although the starters will probably be confined to four, Colleen, Irene, Secret, and Usher. Kive trials are to be held, but, it" one boat, wins the lirst three, it will be selected. Magistrate's Court. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr \V. T. Lester, J.P., John James Clayton, who had been arrested r.-u the arrival of the ferry steamer, appeared on a charge of having stolen, at Wellington, one suit-easo and its contents, and one sugar-bag and its contents, of a total value of £ls. On tho application of the police he was remanded to appear at Wellington to day. Harbour Light Theatre. "Street of Chance," a drama starring William Powell, is the chief attraction at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night, and the two following nights. "Kookery Nook," a British all-talk-ing and all-laughing version of the uproarious stage farce, and played by the original London stage cast, will ho screened on Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. Unlike many stage plays brought to the talking screen " Kookery Nook'' retains every bit of the crisp humour and excruciatingly funny dialogue (hat made it the rage of London. The circle plan is now open at King and Cousins, and is rapidly filling for Saturday night.
