♦ BOARD OF GOVERNORS. MEETING HELD YESTERDAY. The Canterbury College Board of Governors met yesterday. Present:—The Hon. G. J. Smith (chairman), Mrs W. H. Clark, Miss E. A. Chaplin, Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Bishop West-Watson, Dr. H. G. Dcnham, Dr. J. Hight, Messrs E. J. Howard, M.P., J. J. Dougall, J. H. E. Schroder, C. T. Aschman, J. G. Poison, .1. R. Cuningham, A. E. Flower, H. D. Aclancl, J. R. Montgomery. W. M. Hamilton, W. A. Banks, and li. B. Wood. Staff Changes. Miss A. G. .Merton, 8.A., was appointed to a C grade position on the staff of the Clmsstchurch Girls' High School from the beginning of the next school year. Miss N. Forsyth, of the staff of the Chnstchurch Girls' High School, was granted leave of absence because of illhealth. The resignation of Mr F. Row from hus position as assistant at the Canterbury Museum was accepted. This position he has held for twenty-nine vcars. Mr H. Horridge, of the staff of the School of Art, was granted extension »t his leave because of continued illhealth. Miss H. Henderson was appointed a probationer on the staff of the Canter- I bury Public Library. Mr D. A. Carr was appointed partvime assistant to the Professor of English for the 1931 sossion. The resignation of Mr J. S. Fitzgerald, demonstrator in the Department of Chemistry was accepted. Mr Brickell was apointed assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering for the 19.11 session. Lecturers Appointed. The following lecturers and part-time lecturers were appointed for the 1931 i&ctigion:— -Mr J. E. Purchase, lecturer in education. ilr 1/. L. A. Cuthbort, assistant lecturer ii» commercial law. .Miss J. Black, assistant to lecturer in music. Mr E- W. Whit?, assistant lecturer in iistory and political science. Mr A. C. Mr K. M. Gresson, assistant lecturer in law. Mr H. H. Hanna, assistant lecturer in law. Mr Tj. W. Gee, assistant lecturer in law. Mr K. G. Archer, assistant lecturer in I law. Mr A. C. Brassington, assistant lecturer in law. Mr A. C. Brown, assistant lecturer in law. The offer of the Internatioual Harvester Company of a loan of n. tractor for use in the Heat Engines Laboratory of the School of Engineering was accepted with thanks. The Rector was given power to accept late entries for College examinati6ns up to one week before their being held, subject to the payment of a fine of £1 Is. Education Committee's Report. The following committees were set up to consider and report to the Board on the recommendations of the Select Committee on Education: (1) Mrs Clark, Dr. Hight, Dr. Denham, Bishop West-Watson, Messrs Acland, and Wood, to consider the report as it affects the University. (2) Miss Chaplin, Messrs Banks, Flower, Schroder, Poison, and Montgomery, to consider the report as it affects secondary schools. The chairman and deputy-chairman are to be ex-officio members of both committees.
