ROSE AND SWEET PEA SHOW.
A PRETTY EXHIBITION. The annual ros© ftnd sweet po& N tbow under th© auspices of tho Methodist Church wb6 held in Hie Ileafbcote Valley Club Hall on Saturdby. Despite the unfavourable weather experienced of la to, thcro was quite a good diaplay of flowers and vegetables, and competition was very keen. There were large entries in ali sections, and the judge commented favourably upoa the excellent standard reached. The classes for local exhibitors attracted large . entities, and considerable difficulty was' experienced in determining the best blooms- . The premier rose was a splendid specimeu of Hugh Dickson,' grown by Mr T. Arkley. The judge in the cookery section (Mr Norton) said that the exhibits were excellent, and awarded two special prizes in tho class for jam sponges. The show was well patronised both in the afternoon and evening, and the church funds will be considerably augmented au a result of it. Those responsible for the management of the show were:—President, Rev. F. B. Lawrence; chairman, Rev. H. Fallows; secretary, Mr G. Westbrooke; supervisor, Mr W. J. Burnell; treasurer, Miss J,. Hay. The judges were:—Flower's and vegetables, Mr .7. H, Robinson; cookery, Mr P. G. Norton. The stallholders were:——Work. Ladies' Guild; cakes, Mesdames Scott and Shrimpton; variety, Mesdames Cofjle, Westbrooke, and Ste\ens; ice-cream, Misses A. Oefgeh, M. Cameron. «nd L. Woods; flowers and produce, Messrs W.
