Support Asked Tor. Jit if. G. Wake, in moving that th» Asso. ciation's delegate to the New Zealand Lawu Tennis Association be instructed to support the proposal as set out in the report, pointed out that the chief point for discussion was the matter of the proposed levy for junior tennis of one penny a head per player. In the Canterbury Association that levy would raise £2s—one penny per head from the 0000 members. The clauses which advocated the formation of junior tennis bodies in the >arious districts, and the holding of competitions by them, were certainly to be supported. There was the clause, however, which dealt with the junior representative# at the New Zealand championships. It was recommended that each district send two representatives, a bo* and a girl, for tho first 1000 members of the Association, and two representatives for each 1000 members thereafter. Thai was a good idea as it discouraged 4 *joy*riding"—-players | being sent whose play did not merit their nomination. It was that the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association pay the expenses of the winners of the junior tournaments in the various districts, and any others sent have their expenses paid, haL by their local Association and half by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association.

Finding the Money. "The question is who is going to shoulder the responsibility of providing the additional money needed, and I think the Association will have to do that," said Mr Goss. "At present the funds are very low/' That affiliation fees had not been raised for a great many years was the statement of Mr Browning in reply to a suggestion by Mr C. Sheppard that they bo raised to secure money, and he explained that at present the Association received £l5O from that source and paid between £7O to £BO to the New Zealand Association. However, the Association should raise the money in some way. Amendments Carried. After discussing the clause relating to the number of junior representative* to be allowed to e&ch Association, it was decided that the Canterbury Association favour the sending of not more than eight from any ox}& Association, and up to four in the caae of the smaller associations. It was then decided that the Association's be instructed to oppose a motion that Mr Melody's scheme as rescinded at the council meeting on March 10th, 1980, bo reinstated, and a proposal that the subscriptions to be paid by the affiliated associations for the year 1830-31 shall lie 3d for every active member, to be increased to 4d if either of tho junior tennis proppsals placed before the Council bet adopted, was Supported by the meeting. Mr Sheppard gave notice of motion that tit a affiliation fee of clubs to the Canterbury ■Association be raised from £1 la to £1 ss, the purpose being to r»ise money for the junior tennis scheme. It was explained that such a proposal would not have to bo put into effect unless that for an increase in the levy was turned down by the New Zealand Council, and the junior scheme approved-

The report of the Management Committee atated that it had approved of the terms submitted by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association in connexion, with the holding of the New Zealand championships at Wilding Park commencing on Boxing Day, the Canterbury Association to take one-third of the gross gate takings, less amusement tax.
