APPRENTICES ACT.
AMENDMENTS OUTLINED. Amendments to the Apprentices Act, 1923, which were passed last session, will conic into operation on January Ist, 1931. ship Committee may exercise its powers to a radius of twenty miles from some specified point, and the restriction is to apply to existing committees. Power is given to the Court to extend such area when it is satisfied that such is the wish of the employers and workers concerned. . Section 15 takes away the employer s right to dismiss the apprentice for miscon duct or incapacity and gives him the right merely to suspend the apprentice and have the matter dealt with by the Apprenticeship Committee, with the right of appeal to a. Magistrate. Chemists' apprentices are excluded fr.om. the provisions, of.the Act.
