* , CANTERBURY PILGRIMS' j ASSOCIATION. j ——— | In response to tho r..'quest ot a deputation which waited on liivn yesterday morning, Mr E. 11. Webb consented to his nomination as president o-r the Canterbury Pilgrims' Association at the annual meeting to be held on December Bth. Mr A. Sehjyn Bruce, in presenting a niimerous}y-signed petition to Mr Webb, said that Mr Wnbb's long connexion with the Association, and the active interest lie had taken in its aftairs, singled him out as the ideal successor to their late worthy and V?i i,e< ; TnGC ' exe eutiv6 head, Mr .1. A. I'lesher. Mr Webb's family relationships joined him to the band of pioneor? a. landed from tho pilgrim snips, and tho memory of his father, who interested himself in all efforts for the advancement of the settlement in its early and difficult days, was held in grateful appreciation by them all. The Association was under a debt of gratitude to Mr Webb for his labour of love m connexion with the collection and conservation of historic photographs and illustrations of the early fife of Lyttelton and Christchurch This debt, they hojjed. he would allow them to repay in some measure by acceding to their wish to nominate him for the position of president of the Pilgrims' Association. Mr Wehb, in signifying Ins williiiKtifess to accept nomination, exnressecl hi's appreciation of the honour thev dosired to confer on him.
