RAILWAY SERVICE FOR POVERTY BAY.
INVESTIGATION WANTED. IPR*SS iSfeOCIATIOK GISBORNE, November 22. The Gisborne railway delegation, under the • presidency of the Mayor, sent the acting-Prime Minister a request that the Parliamentary Committoo that is investigating the railway construction programme should visit Poverty Bay to gain first-hand ini'ormntion regarding the potentialities and prospects for railway and future development of the district. "We maintain," the delegation 6tates, "that the district can never be adequately served by road, and strongly protest against the action of the Public Works Department in putting off men, thus stopping the progress of tUe work."
