SANATORIUM SERVICE SOCIETY.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A step forward wua made n; connexion with the proposal, discussed at a public meeting, held two or three weeks ago, to consider the establishment of an organisation for the purpose of assisting patients at the Consumption Sanatorium, at the first meeting of the executive, which was held yesterday afternoon. There woie present: Messrs P. 11. Harris and C. J. Ilonaldsoii, Itev. A. IT. Norrip, Br. .J. Kennedy, Or. .1. C. Macintyre, Itev. T. W. Armour. Mesdarues A. I. Fraer, ami .1. C. Holmes. On t!ie motion of Mr Norris, seconded by Mrs Fraer. Mr Harris whs elected chairman of the executive. Mr A. 11. Shanks, formerly Superintendent of Telegraphs, was elected secrotary, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by L>r. Kennedy. It was decided to ask th.s City Treasurer, Mr J. W. Niven, to continue to act as treasurer. A letter was read from the Christchurch Rotary Club appointing Mr liunRldson its representative at yesterday's meeting and sotting out that ho would report to the next meeting of the club which would then decide as to the appointment of a permanent representative. Constitution and Eules. Mr Norris submitted a draft of the constitution and rules. It was decided that the name of tho organisation should bo "The Sanatorium Service .Society." The objects were agreed to as follows:—"To assist iu various ways patients resident at tho Sanatorium, and also patients who, on their discharge, need after-care." The other rules were agreed to, some with slight amendments, and will bo submitted to the General Committee for its approval. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Norris for having drawn up the rules. Other Matters. The chairman proposed that the yetting up of sub-committees should be postponed till tho Now Year. He said that next month would bo a busy one for most people and he belioved in putting committees to work as soon as possible after they were appointed. The suggestion was approved. Mrs Holmes said that when the Sanatorium Guild had paid accounts in hand the amount remaining would be paid in to the City Treasurer. Regarding Christmas gifts for the patients, it was decided to leave their selection to the matron after she had consulted the sisters. The chairman referred to tho excellent work done by the Sanatorium Guild under Mrs Holmes's guidance, work which is to be taken up and continued by the new Society, and conveyed to Mrs Holmes the thanks of the community for the work done by her and the Guild.
