MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
SALAMAN ON TRIAL. (PBES3 ASSOCIATION TELEaBAM.) NEW PLYMOUTH, November 21. The trial of Abraham Wally Mahomed Salaman, on a charge of manslaughter, was continued this morning. Mary Ann Christie, mother of Lyall Gordon Christie, whose death was tho cause of the charge, continued her evidence.
In reply to Mr Weston, for uie Crown, witness said that at no time did Salaman advise her to call in a doctor.
All through this you had complete confidence in Salaman f—Yes.
And you still have confidence in him? —Yes. I wouldn't like to blame him for tho boy's death.
His Honour the Chief Justice, Sir Michatel Myers: That is, of course, not for you to decide now. Would you have stopped the insulin treatment if you had not come to see Salaman?—No.
Did Salaman at any time say he would not treat the child?— No.
On the Friday after seeing Salaman you were left with the impression that if insulin were out of the boy's system Salaman would treat him?— Yes.
Dr. Boyd, of Wellington, gave evidence regarding insulin treatment. Frederick Duncan Mackay said ho had stopped giving insulin to his child on Salaman's advice, and she relapsed. Witness took her to hospital in a state of coma, and the staff worked on her all night. The girl was now given two doses of insulin a day, and was on a diet.
The hearing was adjourned till to morrow.
