In accordance with the wishes of the majority of the Federal Labour Caucus, the Commonwealth Balnk is to be requested by Cabinet to make money available for new works to relievo unemployment. Although Messrs Lyons and JTenton suggested that Mr ICeane's motion should stand over in view of some of the problems which the passage of the resolution would involve, the Ministers did not oppose it. In fact, almost unanimous support was accorded by private member?. • Pension Demands Increase. The Repatriation Commission report for the year to June 30th states that the total number of persons drawing war pensions in Australia is now greater than ever before. The total annual liability for 279,285 pensions in force is £7,762,508. During the past year many soldiers, or their dependents, who previously had not applied for a pension, were obliged to do so owing to the depression.
