Professor Crespi. addressine tba International Conference of Young Liberals, in London, made remarkable allegations of ■ torture practised on imprisoned opponents of the Fascists in Italy. He said that sometimes people's feet were placed in boiling water, or they were pounded over the heart with a hammer covered * with indierubber, or forced to listen to shrieks from near-by cells. The professor said that JJprtoJo JJellotti, a well-known lawyer, died in prison on Sunday. The only accusation against him wa« that, his wife wrote a letter in which she said she wondered where things were leading in Italy. _ Professor Crespi added that pignor Mussolini was bringing the youth of Italy »ip to a gospel of hatred against England, Franca, and the whole world.
