UNEMPLOYMENT IN BRITAIN.

HEAVY INCREASE REVEALED.

LONDON, November 11.

Britain's unemployment figures at November 3rd totalled 2,263,127, an increase for the week of 25,626.

Replying to Mr E. F. Wise in the House of Commons, Mr Mac Donald said that he could not see how he could usefully estimate the effect on British employment arising from Australia's economic measures. Mr Wise directed attention to the induction of exports to Australia by hllf, and asked was not that a matter of great importance? Mr Mac Donald: A matter of great importance, unforgettably dinned in my ears during the last four weeks, is that the Dominions have equal status with Britain.

The Emergency Committee for employment indicated in its report that virtually 1,000,000 men are unemployed in the automobile and construction industries alone. Each of these industries is now doing about £500,000,000 of business yearly, compared with the rate of £800,000,000 a year ago.
