ARMISTICE DAY. Armistice Day was 0n , 7 partiaH observed at Lyttelton yesterday. Wotlc on the waterfront ceased for two min utes at 11 a.m., an d many cars and pedestrians remained stationary The Mayor (Mr W. T. Foster) and the Town Clerk (Mr F. Hobbs) wero present at the Cenotaph during tho two minutes' silence. At the Lyttelton District High School the scholars paraded before the flagstaff the ensign being 'lowered to half-mast during the two minutes. A similacereuiony took place at tho West Lvt* telton School. ' 3 Fire Brigade. Members of tho Volunteer Fire Brigade aro at present training for the next inter-seaside borough fire brigades' competitions, to be held at Lyttelton on December (it.h. Runaway Horse. Taking fright at a motor-car in Jackson's road yesterday a horse attached to a milk-delivery cart owned by Mr W. Bowdeti bolted. It had not proceeded far when the cart overturned, smashing a shaft. At the time of tho mishap there were three youths in I Uie cart, A. Gooch, Norman Bowden, I and the driver, \\. bowden, junior. I The last-named received sovpre bruises, | but after being attended by Dr. O. hj! Upham was able to proceed to his home.
