THE CANADIAN ELECTION.
MAJOR ISSUES INDICATED.
LIBERAL PARTY'S VIEWPOINT. (OTTITBD PBE33 ASSOCIATION—BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPXfUQHT.) (deceived June 17th, 8.20 p.m.) VANCOUVEB, June 10. Speaking at Brantford (Ontario), the Dominion Prime Minister, Mr W. L. Mackenzio King, in a keynote speech of the Liberal campaign, said that the record of the Government, the Budget, and Canada's representation at the Imperial and Economic Conferences would be tho major issues at the coming Federal Election. He declared that the people would be called on to decide whether or not they believed in the policy of "blasting their way to trade,' or if they preferred the viewpoint that trade was an exchange for mutual advantage, and that it "is secured not by ill-will but by good-will." He dealt with the record of the Government in respect to finance and taxation, natural resources, war veterans, labour, immigration, and the important provisions of the Budget. Taking issue with the Conservative Leader, Mr E. B. Bennett, the Prime Minister declared that there waß a fundamental difference between the Liberal and the Conservative conception of tho nature of trade. The Conservatives had enunciated the belief that trade was a war. On that assumption thoy spoke and declared that they were prepared to act. British preference was the Liberal policy, and the Liberal Party believed in conciliation, also in the fact that trade was an exchange and if possible it should be mutually beneficial to all countries in the exchange.
