While some Maoria were travelling along the beaoh near Pungarehu, 14 miles from Qpunake. recently a discovery of ambergris was made. Several nieces were found, totalling in weight about 2£lb. Ihe Maoris took the speciment to a New Plymouth chemist for analysis. The chemist stated that the material waa undoubtedly ambergris. Hie has from time to time handled eewrel parcels pf this valuable product. Early this year a piece of ambergris weighing about llb r was analysed for a Maori Tinder, and was sent to England to be sold.
