PLOUGHING MATCH ASSOCIATION.
The initial arrangement* for the North Canterbury ploughing match were made yesterday at a meeting of the committee, over which Mr 3. D. Wyllie presided. The chairman reported that the conference of 'ploughing match associations had fixed August let as the date of the North Canterbury match, but it had since been altered to Augugt Bth.on account of the Lincoln College jubilee celebrations clashing with the inatch dates, ... A programme of eight classes was adopted. It was decided to give a gate pass and catalogue to subscribers of 5* or over towards the prise money, and a lunch ticket in addition to subscribers of £1 i»nd upwards. After distributing subscription lists to those present, it was decided to meet again in » fortnight to consider offers of jSelds for the match.
LINCOLN ASSOCIATION. j In the absence of the president (Mr P. V. Bailey), Mr J. Gilmqur was elected to preside at a meeting of the Llqcoln Plough' ing Match Association, hel4» on Monday evening. Sympathy was expressed with Mr B. W. Lochhead, a past-president, in the death of his wife. Mr F. W. Carpenter reported on behalf of the sub-committee which had met delegates from the Courtenay-Paparua and North Canterbury Associations to discuss the fixing of a new date for the Royal match at Lincoln, as the date allotted by the conference, July 29th, was that chosen for the Lincoln College jubilee celebrations. It bad been ogreed that the Lincoln, Paparua, and North Canterbury matches should be put back one week, the new dates being: Itakaia, July 22nd; Paparua, August Ist; Lincoln, August 6th; North Canterbury, August Bth. The following elass stewards were appointed:—Class A, Mr G. Tobeck; class B, Messrs 3. T. Gallagher and E. H, Rowell; class C, Messrs J. Rickerhy and J.- Smith; c'ass D, Mr W. J. Thompson; class & Messrs J. F. Hill and L. Btaee; class F, Messrs A. Woods and E. H. Wilson; class G, Messrs D, Marshall and R. A. Fougere; class H, Messrs A. Helniseh and P. C. Wilson: grooming, decorations, and harness, Mr J. D. Wills: best teams. Colonel Stafford; marshalling of teams, Messrs 0. Stace, C. Thomas. 3. Benny, D. Ryan, and H. Woods; programme stewards, Mr 3. McVinnie and the class stewards; demonstration stewards, Messrs 3. S. S'mpson and EVW. Carpenter; ■stepping competition, Messrs J. W. Klme, W. Wrisrht. and H. S. Pearßon; sheep weight judsriner, Messrs t). Muir and W. H. Kime; indues* steward. Mr C. H. Watson. Mr Fougere undertook to arrange with students from Lincoln College to survey the plots in the flffld offered by Mr B. F. W. Carpenter for the match. ... Arrangements were made for the social to be held on the evening of the match.
