RURAL CREDIT.

DEPUTY-COMMISSIONER APPOINTED. [THE PEESB Special Service.J WELLINGTON, March 23. The Commissioner of Rural Intermediate Credit (Mr J. W. Macdonald) announces that the Governor-General has appointed Mr J. Snell, at present Controller of the Mortgage Division of the Public Trust Office, Wellington, to be Deputy-Commissioner of Rural Intermediate Credit. The appointment is made in terms of the Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927, and has become necessary owing to the large amount of administrative work wliien requires to be performed in connexion with the scheme. The appointee holds office during the pleasure of the Governor^General.

The duties of the new position will be carried out by Mr Snell in conjunction with his duties as Controller of the Mortgage Division of the Public Trust Office.
