RISKO BEATS SCOTT. A GRUELLING FIGHT. (bi cable— press association—copyright.) (australian and h.z cable association.) (Received December Bth, 5.20 p.m.) NEW YOKK, December 7. At Cleveland, Bisko won the referee's decision aver Scott in a- ten rounds bout. The latter took a terrific battering in the final rounds and was knocked down by a blow in the kidneys in the seventh, but was up without a count. His eye was cut in the ninth but he fought on with blood streaming down his face for the remainder of the bout. GRIFFO DEAD. NEW YORK, December 8. The ex-Australian boxer, Griffo, was found dead in a rooming-house in a disreputable quarter of the city. Kc was destitute, and death was attributed to indigestion and his general run-down condition. [Griffo, whose real name was Albert Griffiths, wes born in Sydney in 1871, and is conceded to have been the finest boxer of his generation. His best fighting days were 'between I£S3 and 1904, during which period he had only three decisions given against him. He won the world's feather-weight championship by beating Billy Murphy in 1890, and wa3 never beaten us a featherweight. He was of a recklsss disposition, and for the.latter part of his life has lived in poverty in New York, being practically blind. In his prime, he was a ring wizard Towardß the end of his life he put on weight to an amazing extent. He retired from the ring in 1911, after having met soch famous boxers as Joe Gans, Kid .Livinge, Jack JlcAuliffc, and Joe Bernstein.]
