SOUTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION. (special to th* PBias.) TIMARU, December 8. The annual meeting of the South Island Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association was held in the Borough Council Chambers tonight, Mr G. E. Jeffreys (president) presiding over a large attendance of delegates. The election of officers resulted as fol--lowb;—Patron,—Patron, Hon. Mr Hawken; president, Mr G. E. Jeffreys; vice-presidents, Messrs E. J. Finnigan (Christchurch), W. Wright (Lyttelton), J. S. Cook (North Canterbury), A. H. Fenn (Temuka), G. Bundy (A6hburton), J. Gerry (Oamaru), W. Chambers (Waimate), F. G. Hansen (Dunedin), J. R. Walls (Taieri), J. W. Jarrold (Papanui), 0. Stokes (Balclutha), L. Oolbourne (Kaitangata), W. Excel (Nightcaps), F. Mitchell (Invercargill), W. McCubbin (Westport), R. A. Brownlio (Granity), R. Hawes (Waimangaroa), B. C. Wilson (Timaru), It. Buchanan (Otautau), W. B. McKenzie (Wellington), G-. H. Ambler (Auckland), K. Scott (Gore), J. Breeze (Hokitika), and the presidents of the Paltnerston North and the Greymouth Societies; councillors, Messrs F. Dacre, J. D. Gobbe, F. H. Chambers, F. D. Wilson, and R. W. Thomas; hon. auditor, Mr V. Bedwell; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. Pearco. A romit to tho effect that, failing a grant being. obtained from the Government for championships or replacement of the art union, funds be raised by raffling two incubators, was carried. Tho following remit was adopted: "That in future any alteration made in the utility standard weights of birds should not be operative until a definite time had elapsed." The following remit from the Christchurch Club was adopted: "That the Harry Norman plates, as submitted to the conference, be adopted as standard types for the judging of Yorkshire and Norwich canaries in the South Island." Show dates as applied for by the various clubs were approved.
