Correspondence.

The secretary of the New Zealand Friesian Association wrote conveying a resolution of the Council congratulating the Association on the improvements made in the internal • arrangements of the cattle pavilion in the Show Grounds. The chairman: That is very satisfactory. A member, in moving that the letter be received, remarked that it was the first time they had received any complimentary comments on the pavilion. Gifts Accepted. Mr H. E. Cook wrote that having been successful in winning the female championship in the draught mare class on two occasions with Yett Merrymaid, and as it was doubtful if the mare would be shown again, he asked the Association to accept a framed photograph of the mare. Mr Cook is to be thanked for his gift. «.. . Mr R. F. Fleming wrote offering the Association a medal won by his father, Mr W. Fleming/ for the first prize bull at the Association's Show in 1864. It was decided to thank Mr Fleming for his gift, and. to procure a case in which to keep it and other similar gifts. Horse Sales. Messrs H. Matson and Co. wrote on October 13th that taking notice of the way sales of young horßes, anu horses in training, are conducted at Randwick and Flemington, they felt justified in approaching the Association to have the right to submit to public auction any entries on any day wherein a sale was held on tho Show Grounds, and that each agent be apportioned alternately, say, half-an-hour'a or an hour's selling. As these sales were centralised in Australia, they thought it would be reasonable to centralise them here. Mr Coop suggested that the Association should take into consideration the question of providing, on the Show Grounds, a building in which horse sales could be held. The letter was referred to both Horse Committees.

Sir Bruce Stewart (Banks Peninsula) and Mr Michael D. Acland (Christchurch) were elected honorary members. Forty-eight ordinary members were also elected.
