CHRISTMAS TOYS.
NO CHILD WITHOUT ONE.
THE MAYOR'S DESIRE. 'lt will be recalled that when Mr Amerv was at the Returned Soldiers' Club last Wednesday, the remark was made that somo children in Christchurch would bo without Christmas toys, to which the Mayor (Mr J. K. Archer) rejoined that there was no need for that to happen as long as lie and others know about it.
"As a matter of fact, since then, 1 have had quite a number of toys sent to nie," Mr Archer told a representative of Tin: Press yesterday. "Mrs Herbert and Nurse Maude and others also arc securing toys. If families in danger of finding their children without toys at Christmas will send their names and addresses to the Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville), their needs will be met.
"It is desired," Mr Archer added, "that double-banking shall be avoided, and, on the other hand, that no one shall be overlooked."
